The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is the longest canal in Northern England, stretching an impressive 127 miles (204 km) between the bustling city of Leeds and the historic port city of Liverpool. The five locks, connected back-to-back, raise boats by 59 feet in a very short distance, making it one of the steepest lock flights in the UK.
